Best food at the Food And Wine Festival at Epcot goes to….Cape Town, South Africa!
The mealy soup with crabmeat and chili oil was delicious. It had just the right amount of crab meat flavor to spiciness of chili oil. There was a generous amount of crabmeat. The flavor was smooth. Contrary to how it looked, when I took it to the table I was thinking “measly” soup, it delivered on taste.
Later in the day I went back to the Cape Town kiosk to try their other offering, Seared Beef Tenderloin with Sweet Potato Puree and Mango Barbecue Sauce. Again, I was very pleased. The seared beef was moist and cooked perfectly. Some of the meats at the other kiosks were chewy or gristly. The beef was excellent, seared to medium. The mango barbecue sauce was very flavorful without being too sweet. The sweet potato puree was creamy and perfectly complimented the beef and barbecue sauce. Overall, South Africa hit it out of the park.
The France kiosk gets an honorable mention. I did not expect to try anything particularly daring or extremely different at Food and Wine Festival. I was impressed that the France Pavilion offered escargot. I think I’ve only tried them once twice before, in butter and in ceviche. Here garlic and parsley escargots were placed inside of a buttery brioche. I liked the presentation. The flavor was so good I was tempted to go for seconds. They were really that good.
Friendliest Service goes to France and Italy!
These guys were great. Outgoing and approachable. Unlike most of the other kiosks, they were from the country they were there to represent.
